If you look after a relative or friend, extra planning and preparation can reduce the level of stress experienced when going on holiday whether here or overseas.
Ensure you have taken out relevant medical insurance and take all of the documentation with you in case of a medical emergency.
If you’re holidaying in Europe have an EHIC card – a free European Health Insurance Card.
Research where the local doctors’ surgeries and hospitals are located in the area.
Learn relevant phrases in the language of the country you are visiting. If you can explain that you are English, do not speak the language well and that you have an ill relative or friend that will help hugely should you face an emergency.
Ensure you make medication easy to find and readily to hand when you pack.
Have identifiable information such as a passport with you at all times.
