Two new community cafes have opened in Staffordshire to provide a break for carers and those living with chronic health conditions. The monthly events are free and take place in Stafford and Eccleshall offering support and refreshments. There is already a Living Well Community Café in Rugeley.
The cafes provide a place for carers to come for fun, entertainment, advice and guidance. Guest speakers will be invited from health care professionals to community support services.
They are run by carers association Cass working with Mac Clinical Research.
Rugeley – Lea Hall Sports and Social Club on the third Wednesday of the month from 10-12.30
Stafford – Walton Village Hall from 10-12.30
Eccleshall Community Centre – monthly on Thursdays from 28 September
County Councillor Jeremy Pert commented:
“Approximately eight per cent of the population act as informal carers and the work of many carers goes unnoticed and unrewarded with many of them coming into the role unintentionally so I welcome this initiative by Cass and wish them well in supporting these often forgotten people”
